1. What this policy covers

This policy covers hasnainstudiox.com, the website you are reading now. It is published by Hasnain Butt Akhtar, trading as Hasnain Studio X, England, United Kingdom.

It does not cover the applications. Every published app has its own policy describing what that app does on your machine, and you can read any of them from the app privacy policies index. The short version of all of them is the same: the app processes your work on your own hardware and sends nothing anywhere. That is a statement about the software, not about this website, which is why the two are kept apart.

2. What this website collects directly

Nothing you have not chosen to give. There is no account to create, no newsletter, no login, and no analytics service of my own running on these pages. I do not build a profile of you and I have no database of visitors. The only thing this site ever receives from you is what you type in yourself: a message through the contact form (section 4), or a vote, feedback, an idea or a bug report through the community pages (section 5).

Two tools work entirely inside your browser and send nothing: the New PC planner on the Fix it page, and "Check this PC" on app pages. When you ask them to, they read what your browser reports about your device, such as the name of its graphics card, its processor threads and an approximate memory figure, and compare it with what an app needs. The result is shown to you and is not stored or sent anywhere.

That is not the whole picture, though, because a website is never only the person who wrote it. The sections below name every other party involved when you load a page here, and what each of them receives.

3. Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages and delivered through Cloudflare. Like any web server, they receive the technical information your browser sends in order to return a page: your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser and operating system version, and the page you arrived from. This happens for every website you visit and is how the internet works.

These logs are kept by GitHub and Cloudflare under their own policies, for security and abuse prevention. I do not have access to them as an identifiable record of you, and I do not use them to track anyone.

4. The contact form

The form on the contact page asks for your name, email address, the topic or app, the platform, and your message. Submitting it sends those fields to a small program I run on Cloudflare, which turns them into an email and hands it to Resend, a delivery service, which sends it to my studio mailbox. What you send arrives as an ordinary email and sits in that mailbox, the same as any email you send me directly. The mailbox runs on Cloudflare and forwards to my own account. Once I have dealt with your message I delete it from both, so nothing you send is kept.

I use what you send only to reply to you. I do not add you to any list, and I do not pass your message to anyone else. If you would rather not use the form, the email address is published on the same page and reaches me directly with no third party in between.

5. Votes, feedback, ideas, the Bug Hunt and the showcase

The community page, the Bug Hunt and the showcase send what you enter to the same small program on Cloudflare as the contact form. It stores each submission in a database the studio runs on Cloudflare and emails a copy to the studio mailbox.

Votes carry no name, email or IP address. When you press Vote, your browser keeps a random identifier and the app you chose, so you can change your vote rather than add another. The program also keeps a one-way, salted fingerprint of your connection that changes every month, only to stop one connection filling the poll. Only the totals are shown. Nothing about a vote can be traced back to you.
Feedback and ideas keep the app, what you wrote and, only if you chose to give them, your name and email address, so I can reply. They are deleted within twelve months.
Bug Hunt reports keep the report, your name, your email address and the name you chose for the hall of fame. They are used to investigate the bug, reply to you and run the Bug Hunt, and are deleted twelve months after their round closes, as the Bug Hunt rules say.
Showcase entries keep the app, the title, the link to your work, your description, the name to credit and your email address. The email address is used only to check with you before publishing and is never shown. If an entry is published, its title, description, credit name and link appear on the showcase page until you ask for it to be removed. Entries that are not published are deleted within twelve months.
Feedback, reports and showcase entries also keep a salted fingerprint of your connection that changes every day, only to limit how many can be sent in a day.

None of this is sold, shared for marketing or added to a mailing list, and none of it is connected to the Microsoft Store, Google Play or the apps themselves.

6. Fonts

The typefaces used on these pages are served by Google Fonts. Loading them means your browser makes a request to Google's font servers, which receives your IP address as part of that request. No cookie is set for fonts.

7. Advertising, cookies and videos

There is no advertising on this site, and no advertising network is loaded. Google AdSense code was present here while the studio considered it. That decision went the other way, and the code has been removed from every page.

No cookies are set by this site. Nothing here tracks you between visits, builds a profile, or follows you to other sites. The one thing stored in your browser is the random identifier and app choice saved when you press Vote (section 5), which stays on your device and can be cleared with your browser's site data.

Some app pages carry a tutorial video hosted on YouTube. Opening the page loads nothing from YouTube: you see a picture stored on this site. Only if you press play does your browser load the player from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. From then on that video is under Google's privacy policy, including anything the player stores in your browser.

8. If you are in the UK or the EEA

Under UK and EU law, cookies that are not strictly necessary need your consent before they are set. This site sets none, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to click. A tutorial video loads only when you press play, so that choice stays with you.

Where personal data is processed at all, it is the message, feedback or bug report you choose to send and the server logs that keep the site available and secure. The lawful basis for replying to you and running the Bug Hunt is the request you made by writing or entering; for the logs and the connection fingerprints it is legitimate interest in keeping the site working and the poll fair. The identifier saved when you vote is stored because you asked to vote, and only to keep your vote to one.

9. Children

This site is not directed at children and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. The Bug Hunt is open only to people aged 18 or over. If you believe a child has sent me something through any form here, write to me and I will delete it.

10. Links to other sites

Pages here link out to the Microsoft Store, Google Play and other places. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site, under their policy rather than this one. It is worth reading theirs if you are about to hand over anything.

Links to the Microsoft Store and Google Play carry a short label naming the page here that you followed them from, such as web-new-pc. The stores use it to tell me how many people arrived from each page and went on to get an app. It says nothing about you, and nothing is stored in your browser to make it work.

11. Your rights

I keep no account, profile or tracking data about anyone. The only personal information that ever reaches me is what you choose to send: a message, feedback, an idea or a bug report, with your name and email address where you gave them. I keep it only as long as section 4 or 5 says.

If you want something you sent deleted straight away, or want to know whether I still have it, write to [email protected]. If you are in the UK or the EEA and are unhappy with how I handled that, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK, or to your own supervisory authority in the EEA.

If this policy changes, the date below changes with it, so check this page if it matters to you.
